5th March 2016 marks a very special moment in Backto95 history as we celebrate our 15th Birthday with a very special showcase of the best Oldskool House and Garage artists around at Great Suffolk Street Warehouse.
Over recent years, Backto95 have hosted some of the best parties the capitol has ever witnessed, including events at the landmark Ministry of Sound, Fire, Lightbox, Aquarium, O2 Arena, and 51st State Festival, to name but a few. As expected, you will have another superb line-up of your favourite artists across the legendary four arches to take you back to the original Oldskool vibe and party atmosphere. To top this all off, there will be CD giveaways throughout the night, a live percussionist and Narni Shakers.
Headlining the main arch will be the legendary Todd Edwards with a special Old Skool set. Exploding into New York’s house consciousness in the early 90s, Todd Edwards honed a unique, vocal-led style of garage that hit the UK with an unexpected bang. Todd Edwards is known for his hypnotic collage of cut-up samples and intricate basslines. Alongside Daft Punk, he co-produced “Face to Face” and “Fragments of Time”, and is widely regarded as one of the godfathers of UKG. Todd will be accompanied by the inimitable Elisabeth Troy performing a live PA.
And it doesn't stop there - we also have a the dynamic duo DJ Lipmaster Mark and MC Everson Allen aka Rat Pack playing the best Oldskool Jungle classics. RAT PACK are DJ Lipmaster Mark & MC Evenson Allen who joined forces back in 1985. After starting out by running their own local warehouse parties, they entered into the national consciousness with hits "Searching For My Rizla" "Captain of The Ship" "Brothers/Sisters" and "The Old Skool Masters" Trilogy. They can now been seen rocking crowds at Glastonbury, Moondance, WHP and, not forgetting, Backto95.
Over in the third arch, we have 80's, 90's Soul RnB,Soca and Bashment headlined by The Heatwave. For almost a decade the London dancehall DJ collective The Heatwave have been representing the culture of Bashment. Everywhere they go it's a carnival, from their regular appearances on Rinse FM to raves all over the world. Expect quick-fire mixing, scandalous dancing and pure hype and energy when these guys take over.
Last but not least, we have Soulful and Deep House hosted by the one and only Housefm.net with special guest Mark Radford. Aside from running London's notorious Audio Rehab label, an essential outlet for some of the most talented underground artists around, Mark is a successful DJ and producer in his own right. He also presents a primetime show on Rinse FM and runs some of the hottest parties in town.
