Dj Skinz first started messing around with two turntables, and like most aspiring DJ’s his first audience were the four walls of his bedroom.
Years of fine-tuning his skills as a DJ made him confident enough to seek out his first big chance, and that opportunity came at the legendary midweek club night Soul Kitchen back in 2000, at the now titled Capitol Club. Soulkitchen was without doubt the hottest midweek R&B club night in London town, and DJ Skinz was one of DJ’s that made it the place to be seen at.
After years of spinning to some of London most elite ravers led DJ Skinz into other hot spots in London most notably Ministry Of Sound, Embassy, Indigo O2 and Runway & Fabric. To make sure he never lost touch with the real street DJ Skinz did his fair share of house parties.
His high prominence in London’s club land and friendship with DJ Swing led him to join the infamous Boogie Bunch Dj Crew. This progressed into his first stint at Twice as Nice at Club Coliseum, which lasted for three years. During that time Skinz rubbed shoulders and cross faders with Radio One’s Trevor Nelson, Master Stepz and Twice as Nice residents Steve Sutherland, and on many occasion ended up doing dj set's along side with superstars like Will i Am, Usher, DMX, Jay-Z, Kelis, Missy, P Diddy and Usher joining him on the stage or taking part on the mic. Not content with just playing at Twice As Nice Skinz began to feature as a DJ and Host at various clubs and events across the UK like Fresh & Funky, Cookies & Cream, MTV’s Lick Party, Ministry Of Sounds Smoove (Resident Dj) which is M.O.S. most popular urban night which is now all over the globe and the Uk.
After a few guest spots with Dj Swing on Kiss 100 and London’s urban station Choice FM, Dj Skinz was invited onto Ministry Of Sound’s radio station in 2006 to hosts the only Urban show on the station (which ran for 3 years) His weekly radio show was broadcast every Friday between 4pm and 6pm (GMT) and features only the hottest new Hip Hop & r&b and the classiest of classics.
DJ Skinz career has gone from four walls to four continents. His club duties during this time have taken him from London, to Ayia Napa (Twice As Nice), Dubai (Monthly Resident at Rush Club) Malaysia, America, Ireland, Croatia, Muscat, Estonia (Monthly Resident at Club Pive) Africa and the South Of France (Cannes Film Festival) Sweden (Kayne West After Party) Japan & Egypt (Space & Pascha) and one of Ministry Of Sound’s Only Urban Tour Resident Dj’s and he is only just beginning.
